How do I summarize a long thread?

When you open a conversation consisting of multiple mails, the Summarise (Summarise conversation) button appears. Who can do this: A user who can see the mail. The summary is prepared only when you request it; it is not generated automatically. AI turns the conversation into short bullet points ending with the most current status, and into To-dos, Dates and Questions awaiting a reply lists.

Steps

  1. Open a conversation with multiple mails (grouped). The button does not appear for single mails.

  2. Click Summarise next to the Forward button. The summary opens in a window 1; To-dos 2 and Questions awaiting a reply 3 are listed separately.

  3. To have the summary prepared from scratch, click Refresh in the window.

Result The summary is prepared only when you request it; it is not generated automatically. The summary is stored for the same thread; as long as the thread has not changed, the stored summary appears when you reopen it and AI does not run again. When a new mail arrives in the thread, the old summary becomes invalid; a new summary is prepared on the next request. The summary is generated only from mails in mailboxes you can see and is deducted from your AI allowance.
Attention This is an AI summary; for important decisions, check the emails themselves.
