Finding your way around the dashboard

The SmartMail dashboard is a single screen: folders and labels on the left, the email list in the centre, and the open email on the right. The helper panel on the far right shows the email's details (sender, owner, attachments), AI summary, team notes, history and chat. What the dashboard offers features is explained on the page.

How do you find your way around the dashboard?

The SmartMail dashboard is a single screen: folders and labels on the left, the email list in the centre, and the open email on the right. Who can do this: Every user. The section you uncheck immediately returns to its previous state: details and attachments move into the reading area, the entire conversation moves onto the screen, and the folder list returns to the fixed view.

Screen sections

  1. Use the Active mailbox selector in the top bar to select the mailbox you want to work in 1. All mailboxes combines all mailboxes you can access into one list.

  2. Open one of the folders on the left 2: Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Scheduled, Archive, Quarantine and Trash. Below them, Pending actions (emails awaiting approval and upcoming reply deadlines) and your labels are listed. The number of unread emails appears as a badge to the right of the folder name; undelivered sent emails are counted with a red badge. Clicking the Folders heading collapses the section; if you hover over a folder and click the pin icon, that folder remains visible even when the section is collapsed.

  3. Click an email in the middle list 3; the email opens in the reading pane on the right. The open email stands out in the list as a slightly raised card with a shadow; unread emails are distinguished by a purple-tinted background. If an action takes close to a second or longer, a thin loading bar appears at the very top of the screen.

  4. Use the side panel by clicking Summary & Details, Notes, History or Chat in the tabs on the far right 4. Summary & Details shows the sender at the top, then the owner and status, the Integrity certificate, Organization card and Add to calendar buttons, the archive, read/unread, label, response time, delete and flag buttons, attachments with icons by file type, and a shortened content summary. Reply, Reply All, Forward and translation remain in the reading area. The panel starts open; to collapse it, remove the pin.

TipYour storage and AI usage appear at the bottom of the sidebar. The number next to the folder name is the unread email count. In a thread with more than two emails, the last two emails are shown; earlier ones open with Load previous messages.

Return to the old layout

  1. From the My account menu in the top right, open Appearance.

  2. Clear the checkbox for the change you want to undo: Folders can be expanded, collapsed and pinned, Summary & Details in the right panel 1 or Collapse long threads 2.

Reading paneThe body of the open email fills the remaining screen height; in a long email, only the body scrolls internally, while the header and buttons stay in place. In a thread with many emails, the other emails appear above and below the body as short single lines in narrow, internally scrolling areas; clicking a line opens that email.
New version When SmartMail is updated, a SmartMail updated bar appears above your open tab. When you press Refresh, the new version loads; the page does not refresh automatically, and a mail you are writing is not lost.
ResultThe section you uncheck immediately returns to its previous state: the details and attachments move to the reading area, the full thread moves to the screen, and the folder list returns to the fixed view. The preference is saved in this browser.
