How to work with drafts?

Emails you start writing are saved as drafts. Who can do this: a user with write permission in the mailbox. When a draft is sent, it is removed from the list. The Drafts folder lists these emails; click one to continue where you left off, and delete drafts you no longer need. In a shared mailbox, if someone else has also opened the same draft, a conflict warning is shown.

Steps

  1. Open the Drafts folder on the left 1. Each row shows the recipient, subject and number of attachments.

  2. Click the draft you want to continue; the writing window will open with the draft's content.

  3. To delete an unnecessary draft, click Delete draft on its row 2 and confirm.

Result When the draft is sent, it is removed from the list. When you close the compose window, what you have written is saved as a draft again.
TipDrafts labelled On server were written in another email program and saved to the mail server; when you open one, an editable copy is created. To open a draft while another compose window is open, close that window first.

Shared draft conflict warning

A draft labelled On server can be opened separately by multiple people in a shared mailbox — each person gets their own editable copy. In this case, a warning banner appears above the compose window.

  • Yellow banner: another user is currently editing the same draft. If you both send, the email may go out twice.

  • Reddish banner: the source of this draft on the server has already been sent or deleted by someone else. If you send it anyway, the email will be sent a second time.

TipThe second banner also appears LIVE in the other open window as soon as someone sends or deletes their copy - you do not need to refresh the page.
