What is holiday mode (automatic reply)?

Holiday mode automatically sends a short reply to emails that arrive in the mailbox while you are away. Who can do this: any user with send permission on the mailbox. Your reply is sent to new emails arriving in the mailbox. If you provide a start and end date, the reply is sent only within that range; it stops automatically at the end. No replies are sent to newsletters, email lists, "noreply" addresses or other automatic replies; this prevents two automatic replies from looping.

Steps

  1. From the My account menu in the top right, open Vacation mode (auto-reply) and select the mailbox.

  2. Select Auto-reply on 1; optionally, select the Start and End dates 2.

  3. Enter the reply subject and text, then click Save.

ResultYour reply is sent to new emails received in the mailbox. A reply is sent to the same person at most once every four days; it is not sent again on every email to someone you correspond with regularly.
Tip No replies are sent to newsletters, email lists, "noreply" addresses or other automatic replies, so two automatic replies do not loop. If you also want to reply to internal emails, select Also reply to internal emails 3.
Spoofed sendersEmails whose sender address cannot be verified (and may be impersonated) do not receive replies. The reply subject is the subject you write; the incoming email's subject is not added. A mailbox sends at most 100 automatic replies per day.
