File upload failed: what should I do?

If you see a warning when adding a file, the cause is usually the file type, size or your organisation’s storage space. Who can apply: Project manager; Project member; Customer. Follow the steps below according to the warning text. Do not close the page while uploading.

Steps

  1. Read the text of the warning that appears at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Apply the solution for that warning from the list below.

  3. Re-add the file using Add File.

Solution based on the warning

  • "This file type cannot be added for security reasons." Executable files are not accepted. You can send the file by placing it inside a .zip archive.

  • "File too large": The per-file limit is 250 MB, or 50 MB for the customer role. Split or compress the file.

  • "Your storage is full." Your organisation's DBLinx storage has reached its capacity. Your organisation administrator can increase the space via the DBLinx tenant panel, or unnecessary files can be deleted.

  • "File upload failed" or "File repository currently unavailable": The connection may have dropped. Check your internet connection and try again after a few minutes.

Add File button not visible

  • If you have the Viewer role in the project, you can open files but not add them. Ask your project manager to change your role.

  • If you have the Customer role, you can only add files to tasks open to you; you cannot add them to the project’s Files tab.

Tip Do not close the page while uploading. An incomplete upload will not appear in the list; simply re-adding the file is sufficient.
