How to import from another tool?
Move your work held in Trello, Asana, Jira, or another tool into SmartPM in a single file. Who can do this: Organisation users who can create projects (excluding customer accounts). A new project opens and displays the Kanban view. Lists, cards, subtasks, labels, dates, priorities, and people are imported into a new project.
Which files?
Trello: exported JSON file of the board. Lists, cards, label colours, members, due dates, checklists, and archived cards are included.
Asana, Jira, and others: CSV file. Columns are identified by headers (e.g., Name, Summary, Section/Column, Status, Assignee, Due Date, Labels, Priority, Parent task); delimiters may be comma, semicolon, or tab.
Excel: first sheet of the .xlsx file. The first row must contain column headers.
Steps
In the left menu, click New project, then click the Import (Trello, Asana, Jira, CSV, Excel) link in the dialog box.
Drag and drop the exported file from the other tool into the box, or click to select it 1. The file is read locally; it shows how many cards, lists, labels, and people there are, and previews the first cards.
If a column in the CSV or Excel file is incorrectly recognised, select the correct column from the Column Mapping section 2. The preview updates immediately.
If necessary, change the project name and click Import as Project 3.
- 1Drop the exported file
- 2Correct columns if needed
- 3Import as Project
How are people matched?
If a person's name, username, or email in the file matches an account in your organisation, that person is added as a member to the project and assigned to cards. Unmatched people are listed after import; those cards remain unassigned. After inviting the person to the organisation, you can manually assign them to cards.
