Customer membership and email verification
A customer signing up at your store opens their account via the link sent to their email. Requests for stock and query notifications for non-members also become active upon approval. This page describes the steps the customer will see; no panel settings are required.

What is customer membership and email confirmation?
A customer signing up at your store opens their account via the link sent to their email. Who can do this: Store owner; Customer service. An account cannot be opened with someone else's email address; every customer who signs up via email confirmation is the owner of that address. Requests for stock and query notifications for non-members also become active upon approval.
How does a customer sign up?
The customer opens the Sign Up page at your store; they enter their first name 1, email address 2, and password. The password must be at least 8 characters long.
They tick the box if they wish to be informed about promotions. 3 This consent is saved when the account is approved.
They click Sign Up. 4 No account is created at this step; a confirmation link is sent to the customer's email.

Email confirmation
Once the form is submitted, the customer sees a message indicating that a confirmation link has been sent to their email. 1
- 1Confirmation message
- The email comes from your store's name. The link is valid for 24 hours and can be used only once.
- When the customer clicks the link, their account is opened and they are taken directly to the My Orders page. 1
- If the link has expired, the customer form resets; a new link is sent. A second link is not sent to the same address within 5 minutes.
- 1Account created
Customer who previously placed an order
- When a customer who previously ordered without signing up registers with the same email, their past orders and addresses appear in their account after confirmation.
- If an account already exists with this email, the form shows the same message; instead of an account creation link, a password reset link is sent to the email. This prevents the form from revealing whether an address is already registered.
Stock and query notifications
- A guest customer who leaves a notify me when back in stock request on the product page first receives a confirmation link. Once confirmed, an email is sent when the product is back in stock.
- If a guest customer asking a question enters their email address, they confirm it so the answer can be sent by email. The query awaits a response in your panel regardless of confirmation.
- If a logged-in member submits a request with their own email, no additional confirmation is required.
- Stock notifications not confirmed within 7 days are deleted; unanswered query emails are not saved.
Newsletter subscription
- For visitors entering their email into the newsletter section of your theme, a confirmation link is sent first. Promotion consent is written only after the link is confirmed.
- The confirming visitor is added to your customer list as a Guest and receives the Has marketing consent tag. If a customer with the same address has previously placed an order or signed up, no new record is created; the consent is written to that customer.
- You can view your subscribers on the Customers page using the With marketing consent filter. You can export the list as CSV or JSON via Reports › Export › Customers.
- The form returns the same response for every address; it is not possible to determine from the form whether an address is subscribed.
- Registered customers can toggle their promotion email consent at any time on the My Orders page in their account, using the I want to receive emails about campaigns and updates checkbox. When unchecked, the consent tag is also removed from your panel.
