# Why did my task disappear automatically?

If a task's date changed without your input, automatic rescheduling moved it because a predecessor grew longer or a new dependency was added.

## What should I do?

- Check the Dependencies section on the task dashboard; predecessor tasks are listed here.

- Check the dates of the predecessor task: if its end date was moved forward, its successor will also shift.

- If the successor needs to start earlier, shorten the predecessor, change the link type or lag, or remove the link.

> Tip Scrolling only advances tasks; disconnecting does not automatically revert tasks—you must manually reset their dates.
