# Adding a customer to a project: Customer role and customer-facing tasks

You add your customer to the project with the Customer role; they see only tasks marked as “Customer-facing” and can comment on them.

- Project manager

- Company Administrator

## Steps

- Add your customer as a user from your DBLinx tenant panel; login credentials are sent to them.

- In SmartPM, on the project's Team tab, select the person, set their role to Customer, and click Add.

- In the window of every card you want the customer to see, open the Open to customer toggle 1.

## What does the customer see?

The customer only sees the project they are part of and the tasks in that project marked as visible to customers; these tasks have an eye icon next to them in the list.

- Cannot modify or move tasks, or log time.

- Can read and write comments on open tasks.

- Cannot view the Team tab, time logs, or internal tasks; cannot open projects.

> Warning: The customer is a regular DBLinx user and counts towards your organization's user limit. Tasks are closed to customers by default; only those you open are visible.
