# Obtaining approval from the customer

You request approval for tasks where the customer’s decision is pending, such as design, text, or delivery. The customer opens the task and selects 'Approve' or 'Request changes'; their response and notes are recorded in the task.

- Project manager and member (requests approval)

- Customer (approves or requests changes)

## Requesting approval

- Ensure the task is open to the customer and that someone with the customer role is present in the project.

- In the Task dashboard, in the Customer approval section, click Request approval, optionally write a short note, and click Send for approval 1.

- While waiting for the request, a 'Waiting for approval' label appears next to the task in the list and Kanban. If you change your mind, click Revoke request.

> Result: Customers in the project receive a notification. There can be only one pending request per task at a time.

## Responding as a customer

- Click the notification or the task with the 'Awaiting Approval' label in the list.

- Read the request and note in the customer approval section 1.

- If appropriate, click Approve. If something needs to be changed, click Request changes and write what needs to be changed 2.

> Result: The person who requested approval and the task assignees receive a notification. The task gets a label Approved or Changes requested; previous responses with their notes are listed below the section.

> Tip: After requesting changes, the team can fix the work and request approval again. Approval does not automatically change the task status; you move the task to the Completed column.
