# Adding subtasks

To break a job into parts, you add subtasks from the task panel. A subtask can have its own subtasks; up to five levels. Subtasks appear indented according to their level under their parent tasks in both the list and Gantt chart views.

## Steps

- Open the parent task's panel.

- Click Add Subtask in the Subtasks section (or Subtask in the right column), enter the name, and press Enter; the box remains open, allowing you to add multiple items consecutively 1.

- When a subtask is complete, tick the checkbox in its row; the subtask moves to the completed list.

- For deeper levels, click the subtask's name to open its panel and add another subtask in the same way.

> Result: A subtask is a separate task with its own status, dates, and assignments; clicking its name opens its own panel.

> Warning: Subtasks can have up to five levels; the subtask box is not visible on tasks at the fifth level. When a task is deleted, all tasks at levels below it are also deleted.
