# Dragging dates in Gantt chart

Dragging a task bar in the Gantt tab moves it along with its duration; dragging from the right edge extends or shortens it.

## Steps

- Open the project's Gantt tab.

- To move, hold the middle of the bar and drag it right or left 1.

- To change the duration, hold the right edge of the bar and drag.

- When Move Linked Tasks Together is turned on at the top, tasks linked to the dragged task and subtasks of the task also shift by the same number of working days 3; you see them moving while dragging. They also move back together when you drag back. When off, only necessary successors are pushed forward.

- You can change the scale from Day, Week, or Month at the top 2.

> Result: The new date is saved upon release. The number of tasks moving together or being pushed forward is reported at the bottom of the screen; durations are preserved in working days. When extending from the right edge, subtasks stay in place, and only successors move.

> Tip: Tasks without dates do not appear in the diagram; their names are listed below the diagram. The Today button scrolls the diagram to today.
