# Importing from another tool

Move your work held in Trello, Asana, Jira, or another tool into SmartPM in a single file. Lists, cards, subtasks, labels, dates, priorities, and people are imported into a new project.

- Organisation users who can create projects (excluding customer accounts)

## Which files?

- Trello: exported JSON file of the board. Lists, cards, label colours, members, due dates, checklists, and archived cards are included.

- Asana, Jira, and others: CSV file. Columns are identified by their headers (e.g., Name, Summary, Section/Column, Status, Assignee, Due Date, Labels, Priority, Parent task); the delimiter may be a comma, semicolon, or tab.

- Excel: First sheet of the .xlsx file. The first row must contain column headers.

## Steps

- Click New project in the left menu, then click Import (Trello, Asana, Jira, CSV, Excel) in the dialog box.

- Drag and drop the file exported from another tool into the box, or click to select it 1. The file is read from your computer; it shows how many cards, lists, labels, and persons there are, and previews the first cards.

- If a column in the CSV or Excel file is incorrectly identified, select the correct column from the Column mapping section 2. The preview updates immediately.

- If necessary, change the project name and click Import as Project 3.

> Result: A new project opens and displays the Kanban view. Each list in the file (Asana section, Jira status) becomes a column; a list named 'Done', 'Completed', etc., becomes the completed column; if none exists, a 'Completed' column is added at the end. Cards marked as finished are placed in this column, and subtasks are linked under their parent cards.

## How are people matched?

If a person's name, username, or email in the file matches an account in your organisation, that person is added as a member to the project and assigned to cards. Unmatched people are listed after import; those cards remain unassigned. After inviting the person to the organisation, you can manually assign them to cards.

> Tip: Dates are recognized in formats 2026-10-20, 20.10.2026, 10/20/2026, and Jira's 20/Oct/26 format. For priority, you can write Low, Medium, High, Highest or Düşük, Normal, Yüksek, Acil. A maximum of 3,000 cards can be imported at once; split larger files for import.

> Warning: Comments, file attachments, and history records are not imported; only the cards themselves come through. Import always creates a new project; it does not add to an existing one.
