# Automation rules

Turn repetitive manual tasks into rules. For example, when a card moves to the 'In Review' list, assign it to the reviewer and set the due date to two working days from now. The rule is automatically applied to the card as soon as the event occurs.

- Adding and editing rules: project administrator

- Viewing rules: project members and watchers

## Steps

- Open the Settings tab in the project and scroll down to the Automation section. Existing rules are listed here as sentences 1.

- Click Add Rule. In the When row, select what will trigger the rule 2.

- In the What to do row, select the action to apply to the card 3. With + One more action, you can add up to three actions to a rule.

- Check the sentence form of the rule at the bottom and click Save Rule.

> Result The rule starts working immediately. In the history of the card it applied to, a line "automation rule ran" appears; in the list, it shows how many times the rule ran.

## When?

- Card added: when a new card is added to any list or to the list you selected.

- Card moved to a list: when the card is dragged to the selected list or taken to that list from the card window.

- Label added to card: when the selected label is added to the card.

- Due date completed checked: when the checkbox on the card's due date is ticked.

## Then?

- Assign to person or Remove all assignments. The assigned person receives a notification; only persons who are administrators or members in the project can be selected.

- Add tag or Remove tag.

- Change Priority: Low, Normal, High, or Urgent.

- Move to List: the card moves to the end of the selected list. If the list is the Completed list, the card is marked as completed; notifications are sent to relevant persons, and the next copy of a recurring card is opened.

- End date: working days from today (0 means today). Project working days are taken into account; linked cards may shift forward if necessary.

> Tip To stop a rule without deleting it, uncheck the checkbox in the list. A rule's changes do not trigger another rule; thus, two rules cannot trigger each other indefinitely. A project can have up to 50 rules.

> Note If the list or tag referenced by a rule is deleted, that action is skipped; if a person is removed from the project, no assignment is made to them. Review rules in these situations.
