Step by step

## Setup in four steps

Setup involves logging into the dashboard, adding your site, copying the tag, and testing in hidden mode.

### Log in to the dashboard

Log in to the dashboard with your DBLinx credentials and open Management → Sites.

### Add your site

Enter the site name and domain names. The tag only works on these domains.

### Copy the tag

Copy the two-line tag specific to you and paste it into your site's common template.

### Test in hidden mode

Add hidden mode to the tag; only you will see the bubble when opening the test address.

## Try without installing

Before installing the tag, test the assistant on your own site using a bookmark, visible only to you.

## Four window views

Bottom right, bottom left, side panel, or full screen; you choose the default, but visitors can change the view from the window.

## Conversation continues even if the page changes

Conversations are stored on the server; when a visitor navigates to another page, the window opens with the same conversation.

## Setup questions

Where do I add the tag to my site?

The tag is added once to the common template used across all pages of your site, usually at the end of the page. It does not matter what infrastructure your site is built on; if a script tag can be added to the page, SmartOperator will work.

Does the tag slow down my site's loading?

The script loads asynchronously and does not block page loading. Only a small bubble is drawn while the page loads; the chat window loads when the visitor hovers over or clicks the bubble.

Can someone else use my tag on their site?

No. The site key only works on domain names registered in the dashboard. If you have multiple sites, each site gets its own key and its own knowledge base, catalogue, and conversations.

Can I try it before my customers see it?

Yes. When hidden mode is added to the tag, the bubble is invisible to visitors; only the person who adds the test parameter to the end of the address can see it. You can test the representative on your live site with real pages.

How does the window look on mobile?

On mobile, the chat window always opens in full screen. On desktop, one of the bottom right, bottom left, side panel, or full screen views becomes the default; visitors can change the view from the window.
