# What happens when the AI allowance is used up

When the organization's monthly AI allowance runs out, SmartMail continues to receive and send email; only AI features wait until the next month. To get extra allowance, the administrator creates an extra token request from the DBLinx organization dashboard via the **Buy extra tokens** link in the banner.

## What happens when the AI allowance is used up?

When the organization's monthly AI allowance is used up, SmartMail continues to receive and send email; only AI features wait until the next month. Who can do this: Administrator; All users. The allowance is renewed at the start of each calendar month. For additional allowance, the administrator creates an additional token request from the DBLinx organization dashboard via the Buy additional tokens link in the banner.

## What is shown when the allowance runs out

At the top of the dashboard, a warning banner appears: “This month's AI allowance has been used up.” 1. The banner also says that receiving and sending emails are not affected.

Administrators see the **Buy additional tokens** link at the end of the banner 2. The link opens a support ticket with the subject "additional tokens" in the DBLinx organization dashboard; submit the ticket and the additional allowance is assigned to your organization.

## What to expect and what works

Keeps working

Receiving and sending email, reading, searching, labels, notes, approval flow and authentication results (SPF, DKIM, DMARC).

Waits

AI summary and AI security assessment of new incoming emails, additional analysis, chat about the email, translation and AI-assisted writing. When a user requests any of these features, they see the same warning.

Continues automatically

Background tasks pause silently; they automatically resume when rights are renewed or increased. No one needs to do anything.

**Result**The allowance renews at the start of each calendar month. The counter in the sidebar shows the date on which the allowance will renew.
