# Notifications not arriving

SmartMail's desktop notifications come through the browser. If you do not see notifications, browser permission may not have been granted, the operating system's notifications may be turned off, or the SmartMail tab may have been closed. Approval, attention and response time notifications are always collected in the bell menu in the top bar.

## Notifications not arriving: what to do?

SmartMail's desktop notifications come through the browser. Who can use this: All users. If you do not see notifications, browser permission may not have been granted, the operating system's notifications may be turned off, or the SmartMail tab may have been closed. Approval, attention and response time notifications are always collected in the bell menu in the top bar. To receive notifications on your phone, use the SmartMail mobile app.

## What to do

If a desktop notification prompt appears at the top of the dashboard, click **Turn on** and approve the browser's permission request.

If you have dismissed the question before, allow notifications for SmartMail from the site settings in the browser's address bar.

Check that your browser's notifications are enabled in your operating system's notification settings.

Keep SmartMail open in a browser tab. You can turn on the new email sound with **New email sound** in the **My account** menu 2.

**Tip**To receive notifications on your phone, use the SmartMail mobile app. Mobile notifications show the email subject and a short preview of its content; quarantined emails and system emails do not generate notifications.
