# While the app is updating

The new version downloads in the background while you use the app; when it is ready, you restart from the banner at the bottom.

## What is 'While the app is updating'?

The new version downloads in the background while you use the app; when it is ready, you restart from the banner at the bottom. Who can do this: Any user signed in to the app. When you restart, the open screen closes. Open the app and continue using it; if there is a new version, it downloads in the background and does not keep you waiting.

## Switch to the new version

Open the app and continue using it; if there is a new version, it downloads in the background and does not keep you waiting.

When the download finishes, a banner appears at the bottom of the screen saying **The app has been updated. Restart for the new version.** 1.

To switch now, tap **Restart** 2. After a brief **Updating…** screen, the app opens with the new version.

If you close the banner, the new version will be applied automatically the next time you open the application.

**Attention** When you restart, the open screen closes. If you are writing an email, finish it first or save it as a draft.
