# Integrity certificate

You verify from within the email that an email in the archive has not changed since it was archived.

- Any user who has signed in to the app

## What is an integrity certificate?

. You verify from within the email that an email in the archive has not changed since it was archived. Who can do this: Every user logged into the application. If the summaries are the same, the email has not changed since it was archived. DOES NOT MATCH: the summary of the email in the archive is different from the recorded value. Open the email, tap the Summary & Metadata tab at the bottom, and tap the Integrity document link.

## Verify

Open the email, tap the **Summary & Details** tab at the bottom and tap the **Integrity document** link.

The card opens. The result is shown at the top 1: **Verified: the email in the archive has not changed since it was archived.**

If the email is under legal hold, below it says **Under legal hold: this email cannot be permanently deleted.** 2.

The SHA-256 digests at the time of archiving and now appear side by side 3; the values can be selected and copied.

**Result** If the summaries are the same, the mail has not changed since it was archived.

**Note** If **MISMATCH: the summary of the archived email differs from the recorded value.** is displayed, notify your administrator.

**Caution** On an email that is not archived, it says **This email is not archived.**
